CCA Pathfinding

Stop walking until you luck into class.

Project
I designed first-floor wayfinding for a campus people get lost in, including me.
Problem
Two numbering systems and prefixes that do not match how you walk the hall.
What I did
I researched the scavenger hunt, then numbered rooms like an airport and put the signs in the building.

Put it in the hall, not in a vacuum

The building got a renovation. The signs didn't.

A, B, N, E, W. What does A even mean.

Students and professors. Same scavenger hunt.

When lost, people pull the portal map. Homeroom, bathrooms, and the Nave came up in almost every interview.

Number like an airport.

Kiosk, crossways, hanging signs

Reflection

Interviews showed that orientation and naming, not polish, were the wayfinding problem.

Next Steps

I want to install a full-size totem in the Nave and watch first-years at rush hour.
